CBPE Capital (“CBPE”) has invested in SpaMedica alongside founder and CEO, Anil Pitalia. Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
SpaMedica provides ophthalmic services, including cataract surgery and macular degeneration treatment, to both NHS and private patients. It currently operates across five specialist eye hospitals in the North of England, and has over 100 employees.
There were over 500,000 cataract operations in England alone in 2015 and the demand for this life-changing surgery is continuing to grow driven by an ageing population and increasingly active lifestyles in older age.
SpaMedica is the cataract provider of choice for many patients, due to its market leading surgical results and outstanding service levels. Its patients experience substantial improvement in their vision and quality of life.
CBPE is supporting management’s expansion plans to open new eye hospitals across the country and continue to deliver best-in-class healthcare.
CBPE’s investment in SpaMedica continues its strong track record in supporting the healthcare sector and helping to build strong, sustainable businesses. The current portfolio includes OH Assist, one of the leading occupational health services providers in the UK, Medica Reporting which is the market leader in teleradiology and Assisted Reproduction & Gynaecology Centre (ARGC) the leading fertility clinic in the UK.
Anand Jain, Partner, CBPE said: “Many patients are not aware they have a choice of provider for NHS cataract treatment – SpaMedica is offering a high quality clinical service combined with short waiting times and a great patient experience.
